Playing as a guest with the band AMBAR

This was for the song "Burn You Down"

With Tal Malka and the Buttons

For my original song "Here They Are"
I was born, raised and educated in Israel. I started playing the drums when I was 13 years old, and at the age of 14 I joined my older brother’s band. After that first jump, I joined more and more rock bands from the same area I grew up in. My focus during my high school years was mainly music. Since my school didn’t offer music courses, I auditioned for a music class in a different school. For three years I was enrolled in the music program where the main focus was the history and theory of classical music. This made me realize I wanted to do more music in any possible way I could think of. I auditioned to the other school band and got in.
When I finished high school I was recruited to the IDF (Israeli Defending Forces) as part of my duty as an Israeli citizen. In the following 3 years I didn’t have the opportunity to play the drums or be part of major projects as I had been before. I felt depressed at that time during my service. My life took me away from the drums and the music in general so I did the one think a person in my situation can do. I waited. I waited for the next chapter in my life. The journey of this waiting just made me realize that I wasn’t born to do anything else but music and be part of bands and projects with original materials. I thought to myself that If I don’t go crazy while waiting, I am going to dedicate all of my time to music which I loved doing and being part of and I knew that the rest of my life would be nothing but this. I just had to wait and grow mentally and understand that something good would come out of this.
During my last 4 months of my service I got accepted to Berklee College of Music and my life had a purpose once again. I could see the next chapter was on the horizon and finally I realized that this waiting was not for nothing.

When I finally finished my service in 2015, I packed my clothes, my cymbals, and my belongings and moved to Boston. I started my studies in Berklee and I am a current student in the college studying Performance and Music Production and Engineering. I have one more year to go, but I have done so many things since I came here. In the summer of 2015 I went back to Israel for couple months after a full semester at Berklee and recorded two EPs with two separate projects and played in a couple of shows. My new perspective I from studying at Berklee was clear and obvious in those couple of months at home.
I was also part of various projects here at Berklee. I find that anytime I am joining a new project I am gaining a new perspective from the different people I meet. This is giving me more ideas and understanding about the music that I write today. In the end, we are all coming from the same planet and we all have the same problems, so it is very important to understand each other when we working together to make new art. I am looking forward to many more projects that will start very soon including my own full album that I am currently working on and it will be released in the next couple of months (Summer of 2017).
